When considering or getting ready to hire any kind of staff member for your website's team ensure you trust them a lot. Staff you hire who don't really want to help you or the forum can deface and delete most of it's content with a few clicks.
Most people who report that their website/forum has been hacked have in fact given powerful privileges to somebody who decided to abuse them and go on a rampage. If you don't trust someone don't make them staff. Don't be afraid to reject people who submit staff applications because it is your website/forum.
It can take less the a minute to totally mess up and delete everything on a website/forum and months to recover from it. Sometimes, recovery isn't a possibility or only a small portion can be recovered.
